How much peach for your cat?

The flesh of a peach is a perfectly reasonable summer treat for a dog. The problem is the part in the middle — and it is one of the few fruit hazards that is genuinely, chemically dangerous rather than just a choking risk.
How much is safe?
A few small slices of fresh flesh for a medium dog is plenty. Peaches are high in natural sugar, so they are a treat and not a daily habit, and diabetic or overweight dogs should skip them. Canned peaches are a different food entirely — the syrup is heavily sweetened and some varieties contain artificial sweeteners.
What happens if a cat eats too much?
The sugar and fibre together cause diarrhoea and stomach upset well before anything else. The real danger is the stone: peach pits contain amygdalin, which releases cyanide when chewed, and the pit itself is exactly the right size to block a dog's intestine or crack a tooth.
How to serve it safely
Wash it, cut the flesh off the stone, and cut that flesh into bite-size pieces. Throw the stone straight into a closed bin rather than the compost or the garden — dogs dig them up. Skin is fine, though some dogs digest it poorly.

Call your vet. There are two concerns: the pit is a genuine obstruction risk, and a chewed pit releases cyanide. Even a swallowed-whole pit needs monitoring for vomiting, straining or appetite loss over the following days.
Are canned or frozen peaches ok?
Plain frozen peach chunks are a great hot-weather treat. Canned is best avoided — heavy syrup, and occasionally sweeteners that are unsafe.
