How much kale for your cat?
Most guides say "a few pieces". Enter your cat's weight and get the actual daily ceiling, worked out from kale's calories and the 10%-of-daily-calories treat rule vets use.

Why this verdict for cats
A little cooked kale is non-toxic, but the oxalates and roughage can upset cats. Small amounts only.
Kale is the clearest example of a food whose human health halo does not transfer to dogs. It is not poisonous, but it carries two specific compounds that make it a poor choice as a regular addition to the bowl.
How much is safe?
Very small amounts, occasionally, cooked — and honestly there are better greens. Kale contains calcium oxalates, which contribute to bladder and kidney stones in dogs prone to them, and isothiocyanates, which irritate the digestive tract. In large regular quantities it can also affect thyroid function.
What happens if a cat eats too much?
Vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal discomfort come first. Sustained heavy feeding raises the risk of oxalate stones, which are painful and sometimes surgical, and can suppress the thyroid. Dogs with a history of urinary stones or thyroid disease should avoid it entirely.
How to serve it safely
If you do offer it, steam a small amount plain, chop it finely, and treat it as an occasional garnish rather than a serving. Green beans, zucchini and carrot deliver the same crunch and fibre without the oxalate question.
